The Scottish Government's flagship initiative on dealing with inequality in early infancy rolls out across Scotland today with the launch of the baby box scheme.
The boxes, available to all newborns from today, provide essential clothes, equipment, toys and information for parents. They can also be used as a safe place to sleep for a newborn.
The boxes have been praised by Scotland's chief medical officer, recognising the opportunity the boxes provide in exposing expectant and new mothers and fathers to a wide range of health promotion material.
A full list of the contents of the box can be found here.
Parents will be invited to register for the boxes with their midwife and the boxes will be delivered to their home or an alternative address.
